The Misquoted Mosquito

 Can you misquote a mosquito?

Can you lie to lion?

Can you cheat on a cheetah?

You may die, but you'll die while you're trying,

Can you puff up a puffin?

Like you can gaze at a gazelle?

Can you subtract from an adder?

Maybe, on a cold day in hell!

Can you fire a fire-fly?

Give him his P45,

Tell him his services are no longer required,

As you see the light of hope fade from his eyes.

Can you stretch out an Ostrich,

It's neck already as long as it is,

Can you stretch out its beak, till it reaches its feet,

Till it gives the back of its own head a kiss?

Could you ever pray for an Osprey?

Take a Tasmanian Devil to church?

Guide a pilot fish to go where he'd wish,

Help a Sea Urchin on it's spiritual search?

I won't say what you could do to a poodle,

A  Labradoodle or even Red Setter,

A Shih Tzu or a Sausage dog,

And the less you think about that all the better,

I once misread the word Mosquito

I read the word Misquote instead,

And this little mistake,

Caused me to take,

Time to work out these rhymes in my head.

Pleasant Disciplines and Painless Lessons

Look at me
Looking for
Those easy fixes
And short cuts to holiness
"Where",  I ask, "are those pleasant disciplines"
"Where is the painless lesson?"

When your word forewarns us all.
No discipline is pleasant,
But painful.
However,
If learned from,
Produces a harvest of righteousness,
At the right time.

And in your discipline,
Though I can't see it through my tears,
You are showing me,
Your precious and costly love.

Tele

My guitar is a telephone
I use it to talk with God
And to my soul
And through it
I hear things
That are far away.
When I play
I'm serious.

My guitar is a telephone,
And on it it I have
Childlike conversations.

I love you.
Daddy.

I made stuff.
I was good today.
My heart hurts.
When are you coming home?

I Was

I'm going to go

Just walk out of this work place,

Walk up to the main road

Catch a lift to some filling station,

With an ATM

Where I will withdraw the money that I should use for my bills,

Walk to some nearby rain drenched

Bus stop,

Stop.

Catch a bus to an Airport

Buy a ticket to some country on a far off continent

Preferably an Island, or a series of Islands.

Having crossed over oceans,

I will take a local rickshaw,

Or tuk-tuk, taxi or local equivalent,

Take the taxi to the coast,

Hire a boat bound for a smaller island.

On the journey to that small island spot another even smaller Island,

Enquire of my guide if this smaller island is inhabited

On discovering that it is not and has been abandoned for years (because it has an active volcano)

I will make a note of it's co-ordinates

On arrival at said first small island, I will venture out at night and find a sailor from some local opium den, whose word could never be trusted by anyone that knew him,

And hire him to take me to the even smaller island.

On arrival at the island of the volcano,

Leaving the opium addicted sailor with enough opium and food for a week,

I will trek into the jungle and ascend the foothills of that volcanic mountain,

Slashing through the undergrowth with the drug addicts machette I will,

Having lost all track of time and distance, and with no reference point,

Clear unwittingly the entrance to a cave,

A cave that turns out to be an old mine shaft that works it's way deep into the heart of the mountain.

So deep that the walls of the tunnel are almost glowing translucent with their proximity the magma,

And when I am deep enough,

Remote enough,

Isolated enough,

And sure enough ,

Of utter solitude,

I will find a rock

And I will engrave on it with chisel and mark it with paint,

Mark it with my message,

"I WAS HERE"

So that no one will know that I was.

Numb's The Word

 Yesterday I wasn't so glum

Mother's day again, without my mum,

I felt 'this is fine'

Whatever may come,

I've come to terms,

I've done my sums,

The years of good outweigh

If not out number, the grieving ones,

I had no flicker

No pain, no sadness to overcome,

No Jealousy for other kids with mum,

But today I thawed

And saw,

That I'd just been numb.

Thank You

 Thank you so much God

Thank you for what you do
Thank you for the faithful way
You love me
I love you
I want you to know
For all the times I forget
the times I lower my eyes
Bury my face in regret
It sometimes hurts the more to know
You've never failed me yet
(How I forget)
But my names are written on your palms
Engrained, engraved into your flesh
Your mercy flows forever
Your love is ever fresh
(Oh I love your righteousness)
Oh Lord keep me and bless me
As I sing for all I am worth
He Blesses me and keeps me forever
The Lord of Heaven and Earth
My burden is on his shielding shoulders
His love covers me
I'm sealed by his holy Spirit
I'm his eternally

Life is Good

I say that the world is not a bad place,
And that I am not evil,
That life is good,
And that I am happy.
Yet others are not happy,
And that one can be happy,
When they are not,
Is evil,
And exactly what makes this world,
A bad place.

Loose-fit Lucifer

The ice bergs rattle And the glasses chink, And the party's swinging And I'm on the brink, All along, in the old cold throng, Bangin...
